Couples & Marital Counseling

Making the decision to go to couples or martial counseling can be difficult. And couples counseling requires two people just to make the decision to go!
However, couples counseling can be extremely helpful in providing a safe and neutral space to talk about what’s happening in your relationship. And learn how to move forward in a better way.
Couples often seek counseling when they are having trouble communicating; the patterns between them are becoming more problematic; someone in the partnership has had or is considering an affair; people are staying together for the sake of the children; or increasingly feeling like roommates.
Dr. Marnie Shanbhag is a well-respected psychologist serving the Central Florida community and has many years of experience helping couples with relationship problems. In Dr. Shanbhag’s practice you’ll attend the first session together. She’ll then meet with each of you individually for a one on one session to get a more complete picture of your situation. After that you will usually continue to meet jointly as a couple in your sessions. It’s important to pick a therapist that you both feel comfortable with and whom you think can help you reach your goals.
